Back cover
The back cover represents the ability to grow as a person even though the circumstances might not be the best and that is what the tree on sand represents. It also fits the theme of the ancillary texts due to the fact that it shows nature and is quite simple overall.
Props and costumes
Props
To begin with, our music video will not require many props, however some props that will be required will be:
- Fake drugs (flour)
- Training bag
- School bag
- Phone
The costumes that were used were both casual as well as professional, including:
- Shirt
- Tie
- Suit Blazer
- Suit Trousers
- Black shoes
- Red T-shirt
- Blue jeans
- Black trainers
- Black jacket
- Gold chain
- Black T-shirt
- Black trousers
- Work boots
Here are the pictures of the outfits together:
These outfits were used to represent the actions as well as the mood of the main character as well as the setting. For example, the casual red t-shirt with jeans shows that the actor becomes more comfortable, whereas the work boots and black trousers suggest that he is working on becoming a better man. We have also used a suit as the final stage of the music video as it shows the difference between the drug addict at the beginning of the video and the formal and clean man that is shown at the end of the video.

Digipak drafts
This was the first draft of the extra panel where have chosen to have an inspirational quote which links to the message of the main product- empowerment and motivation. This, however, doesn't seem to completely work with the conventions of the genre of alternative rock. The black bars behind the text have more fun and ineffective for the message effect, therefore have decided that this will not be featured in my main digipak.
As with the extra panel, the front cover had a first draft with black bars behind the text, however after realising that the text becomes more fun and exciting I decided to make another version as this was not the message that we, as a group, aimed for with the main product.

Front cover draft
This was the first version of the front cover of the digipak, however after discussing it with my target audience I was reminded that the colour scheme has to be similar throughout the digipak which means that I cannot use the black background as this would break the theme of nature and would not emphasise the message that is being spread. Also, I have made the mistake of adding a Pegi 12 tag on the front cover which is a big mistake as it is not a movie nor a game. Therefore, I will create a different front cover which will fir the conventions and themes of the music video and other ancillary texts.

Unfinished music video
Permission e-mail
As a group we have sent an e-mail to The Fray management to ask for an approval for us to use their song. This will prevent any copyright issues when the music video is finished, therefore we will be able to post it on YouTube.

Font analysis for digipak
Here are some of the fonts that we have thought would be suitable for the digipak:
The above font is very simplistic and professional and symbolises seriousness. This would work well with the brand image that we want to have our artist portray because we aim to have a serious iconography.
This font is also simple and might work well with the digipak, however I realise that it may be seen as a bit feminine and would be good for an artist who has a girly but professional brand.
The Augustus font is extremely clear and easily visible which might be suitable for the brand image that we are trying to portray, however one issue with this font is that is seems a bit old, almost as it was from the 1800s which is the complete opposite of our narrative.
The font above is also very simple which is what we are looking for, however the letters are a bit too close to each other which might mislead the audience by giving them the idea of the artist having a connection with our other actor which would be confusing.

CD draft
The image below is one of the drafts for the CD within the digipak. We went for the theme of time being precious to emphasise the fact that we shouldn't waste the time.

However, after a conversation with the members of my group we have decided that we might want a more classy and much simpler approach, therefore we have come up with the following idea.

Music video advert analysis
The poster which is somewhat an advert for the song Bad Blood is extremely effective due to the use of colours, fonts, placement and clarity. Firstly, the imagery is simple; the artist is right in the middle of the poster. This is because Taylor Swift is a well known artist, therefore she is a great selling point due to her iconography being so widely known. Her costume in the image looks like she is a biker which connotes rebelious behaviour which links back to the theme of the song which is Bad Blood. Furthermore, Taylor Swift is looking directly into the camera to create direct address towards the audience who might feel like the song is more personalised towards them, making them want to listen to it and maybe even share with their friends.
The colours used are red, white and black which further imply the rebeliousness of the artist within the song. This might be targeting the youth who would also be feeling like working against the system, therefore it can be argued that this song is targeting more of a niche audience. However, due to the brand iconography that Taylor Swift has created for herself during the years her fans who usually listen to her music will also want to listen to this kind of Taylor because they are willing to follow her trends and phases.
The font of the text looks like it has been shot with a bullet and left the text cut up which connotes crime which links to the title Bad Blood. Every part of the poster, therefore, is linked together with the same theme which is what I will aim to do when creating my digipak and the poster.

Editing evidence
When we have begun our post production we decided to stack layers of footage on top of another to make lip synching much easier due to the fact that when the layer at the main timeline is fit to the music we can stack the other lip synching on top of it and then reduce the length of it and Final Cut Pro will play the footage that is at the highest point in the timeline, therefore the lip synching will fit. It is much better than placing footage next to each other all the time for many reasons. One of them being that there is more space for footage on the timeline until the song ends which allows us to add a lot of fast as well as slow editing creating nice variation which makes the video look professional. Also, if we place the footage on the same timeline then it is much harder to create on beat editing as we would have to play around with two shots(the one before in the timeline and the actual shot) instead of one which is a waste of time.
We have chosen to use fast on beat editing near the end where the song reaches the most energetic point as the extremely quick cuts will emphasise the change of the artist throughout the video. At that point we want the audience to understand that the artist has become more mature, therefore he is wearing a suit and the part of him that was forcing him to use drugs has gone into the darkness(shadow). We believe that the flickering effect between the two personalities works extremely well with the beat of the song, making it sound and look like a professional music video.
At the very bottom of the timeline there are sounds that the camera picked up whilst we were recording all the shots. The sound was extremely unbalanced which meant that even if we wanted to use some diegetic sounds we couldn't due to the low quality of them. Due to this, we have chosen to disable those sound clips using the disable option(V).
